Founded in 1896, HAOS is the oldest amateur society of its kind in the district and one of the oldest in the country; the Society can justly be called the parent society of the amateur operatic movement in Huddersfield. HAOS stages an annual production at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield in November each year.
