Monday 2nd March- Green Mentor supported Welford Primary to plant 100 hedgerow species or tree.

Both year 2 classes and a group of 8 yr5 pupils were involved. They learnt the correct way to plant in terms of positioning, hole depth as well as adding mycorrhizal fungi to the saplings roots, kick starting its symbiotic relationship, which will support its growth and the biodiversity of the soil, making the whole ecosystem more diverse and resilient.
Species planted - included crab apple, dogwood, hawthorn, dog rose and hazel.
