Environmental Programme

Develop the knowledge, skills and sense of agency to empower the participants to become life-long Green Influencers.

The aim of the project is to develop the knowledge, skills and sense of agency and even the sense of urgency, to empower the participants in our program to become life-long Green Influencers. We approach sharing and understanding of seemingly esoteric or arcane subjects like carbon literacy, environmental footprints and the promotion of sustainable practices with practical engaging scientific pizzazz. We work together to make learning fun and interactive.

GREEN PROJECT UPDATES

The Good Clothes Show

Our green influencers had an amazing time at The Good Clothes Show at the NEC Birmingham which had a special emphasis on sustainable clothing. They were able to explore many different stalls and learnt a lot about wearing clothes that are better for the planet!

James Watt Primary – Climate Action Assembly

Our green mentor, Stephen, has been working with the green influencers from James Watt Primary School for several weeks and on the 3rd March, they carried out a climate action presentation in the school assembly! Stephen and the green influencers are working really hard to make a difference for the planet. Well done! We cannot wait to see all that you will accomplish!

Climate & Nature Youth Fayre and Art Exhibition

On May 22nd 2025, HAOS green influencers from King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls' Academy led 2 interactive workshops to address climate crisis at the New Walsall Art Gallery.

HAOS green mentor Stephen, also led on a project that involved designing bird boxes. These were presented on the third floor of the gallery and will be displayed until June.

St Michael’s C of E Climate Action Assembly

St Michaels C of E Green Influencers have been working with the HAOS Green Mentor Stephen to help reduce harmful gases by 10%. This is their assembly introducing their climate action campaign to their school!

The Great Imagining - Cannock Chase
HAOS joined partnered with The Great Imagining - Cannock Chase, a council initiative with a launch event of Artworks, campaigns and information to inspire and empower the community to imagine a greener, fairer and wiser future. The Green Influencer group from Handsworth Wood Girls Academy teach carbon literacy to schools. This is the foundation to the campaign to get families and schools to reduce their carbon footprint by 10% this year and the green influencer group from Wattville Primary launch the No Mow campaign - encouraging schools to take part by demonstrating ‘the fruits of pollination’ with a smoothie bike on a recycled road with hand-made flowers.
